After a brief hiatus, DevOps Oxford is thrilled to announce its exciting re-launch! With a commitment to bringing together a vibrant community of software engineers, developers, systems administrators, and operations engineers, we will once again host regular bi-monthly events. Since its inception in 2016, DevOps Oxford has been a central hub for sharing experiences and expanding knowledge in key areas like containerisation, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), scripting, and configuration management.

In 2024, as the community faced the possibility of fading away, Humand Talent took on the responsibility of leading the group forward. Our mission is to continue fostering collaboration, innovation, and learning among IT professionals across the Oxfordshire area and beyond.

A Space for Learning and Sharing

At DevOps Oxford, we believe in creating a space where professionals can exchange insights on all aspects of DevOps, including deployment, Linux, troubleshooting, and the latest tools like Git, Docker, and Amazon EC2. Whether you’re working with behaviour-driven development (BDD), managing infrastructure as code (IaC), or solving complex database challenges, this community offers the perfect opportunity to learn from others and tackle the real-world problems facing the industry.

The discussions at our events cover the entire software development lifecycle—from committing code to building, testing, and deploying. With a focus on key DevOps principles like continuous integration and continuous quality, we’ll explore how tools and processes can drive faster iteration, improve security, and increase efficiency.

The Re-launch Event

Our re-launch event was a fantastic success, held at the Collaboration Space in Oxfordshire County Library. Attendees enjoyed two inspiring talks, providing a deep dive into innovative approaches within the DevOps landscape.

Gabor Javorszky shared his journey of integrating Rust into a C codebase to extract OpenTelemetry data, offering insights into how this approach can enhance monitoring and observability.

Richard Startin explored the role of continuous profiling in understanding request latency in Java services, giving the audience valuable tools to improve performance and troubleshoot issues more effectively.

The night concluded with networking and refreshments at The Royal Blenheim, where attendees had the chance to discuss ideas, share experiences, and forge new connections.
