About the role
Production Engineer – Optical & Electro-Mechanical Systems
Do you enjoy building technology where precision really matters?
Want to work on complex, high-value systems rather than repetitive, high-volume production?
Looking for a Production Engineer role where you can solve problems, improve processes and work closely with talented engineers and scientists?
Our client is an innovative advanced-technology organisation developing sophisticated precision systems. They’re looking for an experienced Production Engineer to take an important role in the manufacture, integration and testing of complex optical, photonic and electro-mechanical assemblies.
This is an opportunity to get hands-on with technically challenging products while having genuine influence over how they are built, tested and improved.
Why This Role is Great
You’ll be working in a low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing environment, where quality, precision and problem-solving come before simply pushing units through production.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Master complex system builds – manufacture, integrate and test precision optical, cabling and electro-mechanical assemblies against demanding quality and performance standards.
- Become the person who solves difficult production problems – investigate manufacturing issues, lead root cause analysis and develop lasting corrective actions.
- Shape better manufacturing processes – design and run controlled trials, validate improvements and help raise quality, reliability and efficiency.
- Own challenging integration work – bring modules and systems together, validate performance and overcome technical integration issues.
- Influence products before they reach production – partner with Engineering on product development, NPI and the transfer of new products and processes into manufacturing.
- Help others develop – share your expertise, mentor colleagues and contribute to a knowledgeable, collaborative production environment.
- Make an impact on delivery – help ensure complex products are assembled and tested right first time while identifying and removing obstacles to production schedules.
About You
This could be a particularly exciting next move if you enjoy working at the intersection of production engineering, precision assembly, optics, electronics and electro-mechanical systems.
Our client’s wishlist includes experience with areas such as:
- Production engineering or significant experience at Senior Manufacturing Technician level
- Optical systems, fibre optics, lasers, electronics or electro-mechanical integration
- Building, integrating and testing complex, high-value technology
- Cleanroom or other controlled manufacturing environments
- Troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Moving products from development through to production
- Manufacturing quality systems and process controls
- Reading engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Precision assembly and test
- Manufacturing process development and continuous improvement
- Lean, Six Sigma or comparable improvement methodologies
Experience within advanced technology manufacturing would be particularly relevant. Knowledge of areas such as semiconductor equipment, metrology, photonics or scientific instrumentation would also transfer well, as would IPC wiring or soldering certification.
You don’t need to tick every box. If you’ve built strong experience around complex precision products and can see how your skills could transfer, we’d encourage you to apply.
What’s On Offer
Alongside the technical challenge and opportunity to develop your expertise, our client offers:
- Generous EMI share option scheme
- Private healthcare
- Death in service benefit
Ready for Your Next Production Engineering Challenge?
If you’re a Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or Senior Manufacturing Technician who enjoys complex builds, precision systems and solving problems that require more than a standard production playbook, we’d love to hear from you.
