About the role
Electronics | Precision Engineering | Advanced Technology
Do you enjoy getting hands-on with complex engineering systems, investigating technical problems and making sure sophisticated equipment performs exactly as it should?
Are you the kind of engineer who enjoys understanding how things work, finding the root cause of a fault and getting everything performing to the highest possible standard?
We're highlighting an exciting area of engineering within Oxfordshire, where advanced scientific instrumentation, precision measurement and complex electromechanical systems come together.
For a hands-on Production Test Engineer, this is the kind of environment where technical curiosity, practical problem-solving and attention to detail really matter.
Working at the intersection of production, engineering and quality, the focus is on testing, troubleshooting and verifying sophisticated equipment, helping turn complex engineering into reliable, high-performance products.
🔧 What you'll be doing
The technical focus of this type of position includes:
Hands-on testing and verification of complex scientific instruments and electromechanical systems.
Performing system-level functional testing, integration checks and calibration activities.
Investigating electrical, electronic and mechanical faults, identifying root causes and resolving technical issues.
Using laboratory test equipment, diagnostic tools and precision measurement instruments.
Analysing test results, documenting findings and identifying opportunities to improve testing accuracy and repeatability.
Following, developing and refining test procedures to support consistent product quality.
Collaborating with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot issues and improve manufacturing processes.
🎯 What we're looking for
We're particularly interested in engineers who combine strong practical testing experience with a methodical, analytical approach to problem-solving.
Your background might include:
Production testing, manufacturing test engineering or complex equipment verification.
Scientific instrumentation, electronics, precision engineering or electromechanical systems.
Electrical and electronic fault-finding, calibration or precision measurement.
Working with technical documentation, test procedures and measurement data.
Experience in electronics, automation, photonics, aerospace, medical devices or other high-precision engineering environments could be equally relevant.
