About the role
We're looking for a Group Business Development Manager to win and grow client relationships across the Humand group, focused on technology and deep-tech employers. You'll own your pipeline, with plenty to work with: inbound leads, marketing assets, a modern sales toolkit and the founders and hiring leaders who come to our communities and events.
What you'll do
- Open and develop new client relationships with technology and deep-tech employers.
- Qualify and convert inbound leads, and follow up the relationships that start at our communities and events.
- Work with the delivery team to scope briefs properly, so searches start in the right place.
- Grow existing accounts and keep clients close through the life of a search.
- Use the tools well — LinkedIn, Lusha, Apollo, our CRM and email automation — and keep the pipeline accurate.
- Feed what you learn from the market back into how Humand sells and what it offers.
What good looks like
- A healthy, honest pipeline you understand and can explain.
- New client relationships that turn into repeat work.
- Briefs that are properly scoped before the delivery team starts.
What you'll bring
- Experience in business development or sales, and comfort owning a pipeline and targets.
- The confidence to approach founders, CTOs and hiring leaders and hold a credible conversation.
- Commercial awareness and the ownership to organise your own week.
Useful, not essential
- Experience selling recruitment or another professional service.
- Interest in technology or deep-tech markets.
- Experience with sales tooling such as Apollo, Lusha or a CRM.
Where it leads
You'll report to the CEO until our General Manager joins. As business development grows across the group, so does the scope of the role.
Benefits
- Holiday: 28 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 29 days in your fourth year and 30 in your fifth. The office closes between Christmas and New Year, and that time comes from annual leave.
- Private medical: Bupa private medical cover for you, with the option to add family members. Dental and optical are available as an optional upgrade.
- Life assurance: Life assurance (death-in-service) cover.
- Pension: A workplace pension through standard auto-enrolment.
- Travel and parking: Free parking at the Eynsham office, mileage paid for business travel, and travel to events paid.
- Kit: A laptop is supplied.
- Communities and events: You can attend any Humand community or event, and you'll meet the founders, engineers and hiring leaders who come to them.
- Time together: Company socials, a Christmas party, ad-hoc team lunches, and team days, workshops and training days.
More on how we work, what might not suit you and how we invest in people is on our careers page.
How we hire
- A first call. Around 30 minutes on the phone with the hiring manager or Joe Edney.
- Face-to-face interview. A conversation in person, including a small task or presentation so you can show how you think.
- Meet the team. Time with a good part of the team, so you know who you'd be working with.
- A final conversation. A follow-up with Joe Edney to answer your remaining questions and talk about next steps.
We can move quickly, but we'd rather give everyone who applies a fair look than hire the first person through the door.
