In September, Women in Tech Oxfordshire hosted another vibrant and well-attended event, marking yet another successful gathering. Organised by Humand Talent and proudly sponsored by the BIPC Oxfordshire, this evening brought together a diverse mix of tech professionals, enthusiasts, and software engineers for a night of learning, inspiration, and networking. The event once again drew a full house, building on the momentum of past meetups.

The evening began with a warm welcome, casual networking, and refreshments, setting a friendly and relaxed tone. As attendees settled in, the first speaker of the night, Yulia Lenina, took to the stage with her insightful talk titled “Caring for Your Introvert: Resilience Strategies in a Loud World.” Yulia delved into the often-overlooked struggles that introverts face, particularly in environments that tend to favour extroverted behaviours. Her presentation was packed with practical advice on how introverts can thrive by building resilience. Yulia also shed light on common myths surrounding introversion, and she shared valuable strategies for creating supportive, inclusive spaces for introverts within the workplace and beyond.

After a short break and more networking opportunities, the next speaker, Alicia de Wet, captivated the audience with her talk, “Exploring Career Paths: A Journey to Software Engineering.” Alicia recounted her personal journey of transitioning into software engineering, providing an honest and inspiring look at the challenges she faced and the rewarding opportunities this career shift presented. Her story resonated with many, especially those contemplating a similar move into the tech industry, and sparked a lively discussion on the different pathways into software development.

Although the formal event concluded by 8:00 PM, the conversations didn’t stop there. A large group of attendees moved on to continue the evening at The Royal Blenheim pub, where discussions ranged from career progression and software engineering challenges to the role of introverts in tech leadership.

With another fully booked event, it’s clear that Women in Tech Oxfordshire is growing into a key space for knowledge-sharing, support, and connection.
