A Morning of Insight and Interaction!
On 17th July, we hosted our second PeopleOps event in Oxford, and it turned out to be an incredible morning filled with learning, networking, and forward-thinking discussions. Held at one of the top Oxford conference venues, the event brought together HR, TA, Culture, and Staffing professionals from across Oxfordshire and beyond. Whether you’re an HR manager, PeopleOps leader, or Talent Acquisition specialist, this was the place to be.
The day kicked off with a relaxed breakfast, giving everyone a chance to network and connect. As the go-to HR networking event in Oxford, the room buzzed with conversations, setting the perfect tone for the workshops ahead.
Our first workshop, led by Napa Saengkrachang, BSc MA Assoc. CIPD, focused on “The Constant State of Change.” This People Operations workshop in Oxford was packed with insights on how to prepare for the future of work, touching on Human Resources trends for 2024 and the evolving role of HR. Napa guided us through three critical areas: future skills and roles, changing ways of working, and how HR needs to adapt.
Future Skills and Roles
Napa opened by exploring which skills and jobs will undergo the most significant changes. Attendees discussed their readiness for these shifts, drawing on HR analytics and research that spotlight the growing need for digital skills. Napa’s advice was clear: to thrive, businesses need to define their goals, plan their journey, and ensure they have the right talent and skills in place.

Evolving Ways of Working
Next, Napa led a conversation about how the ways people want to work are changing. We looked at employee engagement and the impact of remote work, flexibility, and external pressures on today’s workforce. Napa emphasised that whether a company is embracing flexibility or maintaining traditional structures, clear communication and support are essential.
HR Fit for the Future
In the final part of her session, Napa discussed how HR’s role needs to evolve to drive HR digital transformation and lead organisations through change. She pointed out that HR professionals must be comfortable with change themselves to effectively manage transitions and avoid increased employee relations issues.

Key Takeaways
Napa wrapped things up with some practical advice: be aware of the environment you’re working in, and treat change as a constant process, not just something that happens during big events like mergers. Her message was clear: the future’s coming fast, so it’s time to start preparing.

Gender Inequality in the UK Workforce
After a quick coffee break, we moved on to our second workshop, led by Joseph Edney, Founder and Director. Joe’s talk, “From Application to Salary: Understanding Gender Inequality in the UK Workforce,” offered actionable insights into diversity and inclusion in HR. He discussed the significant differences in how men and women approach job applications, interviews, and securing roles, and provided strategies to help companies attract a more diverse workforce.
