Job Description

Are you all about Data, enjoy working with large amounts of it and showing its value to businesses?

Do you want to work alongside excellent people in a highly reputable company, with values that are positive, progressive and modern?

Do you want to work on socially responsible projects that make a difference to real people?

Want to work with technology like Azure, SQL Server, C#, Google BigQuery, Talend, ETL, SSIS, Amazon RedShift, SQL, .NET, Java and loads of cool Datawarehouse platforms and tools?

My client is looking for a Data Warehouse Developer to join a team that is pushing the business's Data capabilities that they can offer their clients. The Data Warehouse Developer will be involved in a host of projects (usually 1 year + in duration) that will involve the Design, Build and Maintenance of Data Warehouses – as well as introducing new technology and methods in this space. It will be a role where you are working the full SDLC and working E2E in a team, utilising agile methodologies.

At the minute they leverage SQL heavily (as you would imagine in any data-focused role) but there is an opportunity to work on more niche products such, and not limited to; Google BigQuery, SSIS, Azure Synapsis, Amazon Redshift, Talend, Tableau, ETL, Teradata, Snowflake, C# etc). This hire will help discover the best ways to offer their clients more.

Why this Data Warehouse role?

  • Brilliant business making positive contributions to society
  • Flexible working arrangements around core hours
  • Good salary for a mid-senior Data Specialist – up to £45000
  • Solid pension, holiday allowance and general benefits that are impressive, including Office beverages, fortnightly paid meals out, paid social events, break out areas with games, full sick pay, income and life assurance, enhanced maternity/paternity leave and on and on – they will look after you
  • Excellent training culture where you will always be learning more and discovering new skills – each team member gets a training budget to use as they need/require and they actively encourage lots of seminars, webinars and conferences to be attended – in fact, I have seen a lot of people from this team at events like Oxford Geek Night etc
  • Bright team members – they tend to recruit high calibre people
  • Get exposure to the whole project life cycle – greenfield, enhancements, maintenance, design
  • High spec development machine – usually Windows/PC
  • Sports clubs for those with similar interests – they have one set up for running and play sport as a team on occasions too
  • Sabbaticals are also available
  • Good tech – latest and greatest Data Warehousing tools and platforms

So, what do they want from their applicants? (Don’t worry if you don’t have it all!)

  • Good communication skills and the ability to talk about data and data warehousing to all levels of technical abilities, clients and team members
  • Excellent SQL – and to be honest if you haven’t got some good experience with it, this will be a hard role for you to secure
  • A love for Data
  • Coding with C#, Java or similar
  • Computer Science or similar degree
  • Data Warehousing experience
  • Azure or similar
  • Communication skills – clients, customers, peers etc
